THIS IS A RARE ORIGINAL
GAG CARTOON ILLUSTRATION BY ARTIST
'FLANNERY'
TRUE MAGAZINE - APRIL 1949

(MAN MEASURING A WOMAN)

"GOSH, ALL MY LIFE I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR A GIRL LIKE YOU!"

Classic 1940's gag cartoon.

Years ago, I acquired a collection of original TRUE MAGAZINE cartoon illustrations as part of an estate sale. This one is by the very collectible cartoonist, FLANNERY, and its clean and funny.

Description: India ink and watercolor on large 12" x 12" illustration board. It has editors notation on back, and the caption in ink on the front. Issue # / date, page number and the cartoonist's address on the back.  A soft eraser can remove nearly all imperfections.

In the 1940s, gag cartoon clichés were a staple of every magazine. In this era of great magazines, several appeared in each and every issue. Some were figments of imaginations of the cartooning mind while others were firmly rooted in the everyday lives of the readers.

Many lists have been made to innumerate the cartoon cliché. Each list differs and no list is complete. Gag cartoon clichés are virtually infinite and ever-changing.  Some have disappeared, falling victim to the evolving enlightenment of civilization while others have vanished with the advancement of technology.

IT IS A SIMPLY GORGEOUS MID-CENTURY GAG CARTOON BY FLANNERY - A POPULAR GAG CARTOONIST OF THAT PERIOD - AND IS MOST COLLECTIBLE. MAYBE FOR NEWLYWEDS OR "PERFECT" COUPLE.

I HAVE 100 PERCENT POSITIVE FEEDBACK - BUY WITH CONFIDENCE. THE PIECE WILL BE SHIPPED FLAT BY PRIORITY MAIL AND INSURED. FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE MORE PHOTOS OR HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.
