AMSL ID #400-85

Here's a large Front Surface Mirror from a 1959 model 30 J&L optical comparator.

It is 16" diameter x 1-1/4" thick, and an estimated 22.6 pounds of very flat glass.
My guess is that it is made of either optical grade glass or Pyrex.
Cold War high quality!

There are blemishes and light scratches to the reflective coating,
for some uses it will need to be re-coated.
There are also two very small chips where the edge meets the uncoated back.
Be sure to see all 7 photos.
It would be an excellent glass blank to craft into a telescope lens, or for use as an optical flat.
