This is an authentic Shipton & Co bar brooch from the Art Deco era, circa 1920s.

The center features a diamond shaped cabochon with a hand painted "Crinoline Lady" scene set against a genuine iridescent Blue Morpho butterfly wing. The wing retains its signature metallic blue shimmer, which shifts beautifully in the light.

The piece is crafted in silver and features a secure bar pin with a safety chain and additional sub pin for extra security when worn.

The reverse is clearly hallmarked "SILVER" and "PAT 202213," a patent famously associated with the Shipton & Co's high quality butterfly wing productions in Birmingham, England.

Excellent vintage condition. The butterfly wing has strong iridescent flashes of blue. Some small scuffing on the face that can only be seen at certain angles. The silver has a natural aged patina which can be polished if preferred.
