Description - Delightful early Victorian good gauge solid silver snuff box of rectangular form with a hinged lid and a cast and scroll thumb piece and raised borders
embellished with engine turned decoration with a cartouche which has engraved initial
there is a cartouche with initials and a crowned belt crown and belt motif
rich silver-gilt (gold washed) interior, which has an engraved inscription dated 1847.
Fully hallmarked with anchor for Birmingham assay, lion passant indicating 925 grade solid silver, Queen's head, date letter "R" for the year 1840 and the maker's mark "FC" which is Francis Clark.
Condition - There are no dents, dings, dints repairs, there is a slight nick to the right front corner lid
the hinge is strong shutting the lid securely
decoration is clear with slight loss of definition
the interior silver-gilt is rich and bright with some thinning to the base.
