🏆 The Riverside "Massive" Princess Feather Base

This is a genuine piece of Early American Pattern Glass (EAPG), specifically the "Massive" Sewing Lamp variant produced by Riverside Glass Works (Wellsburg, WV) circa 1890–1895.

🔍 Notable Design Features:

The "Massive" Pedestal: Unlike standard oil lamps, this features the sought-after "Massive" base—a heavy, architectural pedestal with four distinct scalloped feet and deep-relief scrollwork.

Intricate "Princess Feather" Motif: The glass is deeply embossed with high-relief feather plumes and swirling scrolls that wrap around both the high-capacity font (reservoir) and the ornate base.

Glass Quality: A hallmark of the original 1890s Riverside production is the clarity and brilliance of the glass, which was pressed with exceptional detail compared to modern reproductions.

Functional Heritage: Originally marketed as a "Sewing Lamp," its heavy base provided the stability needed for late-night tasks before widespread electricity.

✨ Condition & Value:

Collector Appeal: The Riverside "Massive" version is the most desirable variant of the Princess Feather pattern.

Authenticity: The sharpness of the embossed design and the specific proportions of the "Massive" footed base confirm its 19th-century origin.
