This MAETATE is an item from the Edo period that was attached to the forehead guard of Japanese armor and helmets.
It is shaped like a moon and measures 60 cm in diameter, making it an exceptionally large piece; it was likely used by a high-ranking military commander during the Edo period.
It is entirely made of wood, and it is truly remarkable that such a delicate item has survived to the present day in near-perfect condition.
The KABUTO is not included.
