The Arcam FMJ P7 is a high-end 7-channel power amplifier from Arcam’s “Full Metal Jacket” (FMJ) series, designed primarily for serious home cinema systems but with strong audiophile credentials for music as well. Introduced in the early 2000s, it was positioned as a flagship multichannel amp, often paired with processors like the Arcam AV8/AV9.

At its core, the P7 is built as a true 7-channel Class AB power amplifier, delivering 150 watts per channel into 8 ohms (all channels driven), with the ability to push significantly more into lower impedances.
That equates to over 1 kilowatt of total output, giving it the power reserves needed for demanding surround systems and large rooms.

A key part of its design is that each of the seven channels is fully independent and isolated, essentially acting like seven mono amplifiers in one chassis.
This modular approach reduces interference between channels and ensures consistent performance even when all channels are driven hard—something not all multichannel amps achieve.

Power delivery is handled by large toroidal transformers and substantial capacitance, allowing the amplifier to maintain stability and control with difficult speaker loads.
