Tutorials:
1. Surface Cleaning (Non-Holo Area)
• Spray the CardCure cleaning solution 1–2 times into the bottle cap.
• Dip the precision cotton swab into the solution so that it is lightly damp (not dripping).
• Place your card on a protective mat and gently clean the surface using small circular motions.
• Immediately dry the area using a cotton pad to remove any remaining moisture.
2. Holo Surface Cleaning
Holographic surfaces are more delicate and should be cleaned using the foam cleaning applicator rather than a cotton swab.
• Spray the CardCure Cleaning Solution 1–2 times into the bottle cap.
• Lightly dampen the foam applicator head using the solution.
• Gently clean the holo area using very light circular motions.
• Dry the surface immediately with a cotton pad.
3. Dent Removal (Small)
Small dents and surface dings can often be improved by lightly rehydrating the card surface and allowing it to dry under pressure.
• Spray the CardCure Cleaning Solution 1–2 times into the bottle cap.
• Place the card on the black protective mat.
• Use the end of the foam applicator handle to pick up small drops of solution and apply them directly onto the dented area.
• Once the solution has settled and evenly covers the damaged area, place the second protective mat on top.
• Sandwich the card between the acrylic plates and apply clamps evenly around the edges.
• Leave clamped for several hours until completely dry.
• Repeat the process if necessary.
4. Crease Repair
For larger creases or wrinkles you can dampen a precision swab with the cleaning solution and gently apply it to the affected area before clamping.
5. Dent Removal (Large)
Large dents or creases are more difficult to fully restore, but significant visual improvement can often be achieved. Controlled moisture across a wider surface area helps relax the card fibres.
• Lightly spray each protective mat 1–2 times from a distance of approximately 15–20 cm.
• The goal is to create a very fine mist, not wet patches.
• If necessary, gently spread the moisture across the mat using your finger.
• Place the card between the two protective mats.
• Position the mats between the acrylic plates and apply clamps evenly.
• Leave clamped for half a day / overnight until fully dry.
• Repeat the process if additional improvement is required.
Top Tip: When using extra moisture (3+ sprays), cut parchment (baking) paper to match the size of the mat and place it between the card and the damp mats. This will help control moisture transfer.
6. Card Flattening
Warped cards or lifted edges can often be corrected by applying gentle pressure over time.
• Place the card into a new or clean penny sleeve.
• Position the sleeved card between the acrylic plates.
• Apply a clamp directly over the affected area.
• Leave clamped until the card has flattened.
Important: Before clamping, wipe the acrylic plates clean to remove any dust or debris.
Tips
• Card cleaning and repair involves inherent risk. Always practice on common or bulk cards first before attempting work on valuable cards.
• Do not spray directly onto the card. Apply the solution to your cleaning tool first.
• Do not use on autographed or sketched cards.
• Take extra care when applying cleaning solution near the edges of cards. Some cards can absorb liquid through the exposed card edge layers. This may cause the edge to swell or become uneven.
• Avoid using excessive force while cleaning, as this may damage the card surface or remove printed ink.
• When using extra moisture for repairs, cut parchment (baking) paper to the size of the mat and place between the card and the damp mats, to help control moisture transfer.
• When using the acrylic plates without the protective mats, always ensure the plates are clean and free from dust or debris before clamping.
• The acrylic plates and protective mats can accommodate two cards simultaneously, allowing you to work on multiple cards at the same time.
