Description
This is a large Japanese Kokeshi doll inspired by the legendary figure Mori no Ishimatsu, a heroic outlaw from the turbulent Bakumatsu period.
Known among common people as a champion who “helps the weak and defeats the strong,” Mori no Ishimatsu was extremely popular as a folk hero.
Although this doll is unsigned, it has a strong presence and is a unique collectible piece of Japanese folk art.

Vintage condition with signs of age, such as scratches, discoloration, and surface wear.
