This is a very nice, original Second World War period wool jacket from a Staff Sergeant assigned to the Far East Air Force of the US Army Air Forces, with wartime service in the Asiatic-Pacific theater. This item came from an estate sale and we learned the original owner was an aviation engineer, but nothing more. The jacket was made in Australia, and is actually Australian battledress, as opposed to the similar "Ike jacket" (service dress jacket) adopted by the US Army. Label inside indicates it was made in 1945, so was probably procured by the service man towards the end of the war, or even after to wear when he came back stateside. All insignia are original to the jacket. The collar insignia are typical WW2 stamped brass with steel insert and flat Ballou clutches. Staff Sergeant (E-6) rank insignia are bevo weave silver/midnight blue. The FEAA sleeve insignia is a nice example of an Australian-made embroidered felt patch. The three ribbon bars are singles and pinned on individually. Everything else is as you see it. Overall condition is very good. There are a couple small moth holes, and one or two small spots where there is a little soiled of undetermined origins. Nevertheless, a really nice example of a seldom-seen theater-made jacket from the Far East Air Force.
