*  BLACK MAGIC, A29-575, HU-E, Warrant Officer Len Waters, No.78 Squadron RAAF, Morotai, early 1945.  Len was the first indigenous Australian to become a fighter pilot.

The aircraft was originally named 'Black Magic' by F/Lt. Denis Baker, DFC, 78 Squadron, RAAF, who initially flew this aircraft.  Whilst flying 'Black Magic', Baker, was credited with shooting down the last Japanese aircraft over New Guinea. 'Black Magic' was later flown by Sgt. (later Warrant Officer) Leonard Victor (Len) Waters, 78 Squadron.
