Sony's flagship model
This model is the purest inheritance and completion of the philosophy of the so-called Sony R1, before the transition to the somewhat awkward design of inserting the mechanical base into the tray.
I don't think much explanation is needed, but I believe it has a refined sound and a quality not found in recent DACs. The exterior is in excellent condition as shown in the photos. It's a one-owner item from my grandfather.
Digital compression was largely perfected during the peak of PCM recording. This technology, directly used by Mr. Nakajima when the CD standard was created, utilizes 45-bit oversampling technology, and Sony was the first to use a method that adds a pseudo-random signal to the signal before D/A conversion, without degrading the signal itself.
Around this time, Onkyo and Kenwood had already changed their sampling rates, and their sound began to deteriorate. The sound is very close to Philips and Studer, unified in terms of resolution, richness of sound, and early analog sound quality.
