PAIR OF BEAUTIFUL, NEW WITH TAGS  UNUSED,TRADITIONAL JAPANESE WOODEN WOMEN'S GETA SHOES -

 New, Authentic, Japanese, Women's Geta  Shoes with Subtly Sparkling Pink Straps and Near Black Lacquered Wood (also called Zori, Thongs, flip flops, Sandals)

Japanese Size 24cm which is supposed to equate to maximum UK women's Size 5.5

This pair of geta shoes is a modern version of the traditional style. The base is made of light-weight but hardy wood which is paulownia (the label on the base says this in Japanese). This wood has a lacquered to a black, lustrous finish.  

These shoes were bought from Japan and were made for the Japanese market and the labels are in Japanese, however, they were made in China. 

The straps are made of soft, padded, fabric. The top of the strap is a deep bright pink with a fine netted material. The pink fabric is gently sparkling with some fine lines of metallic pink threads which glitter.  The underneath of the strap, where it touches the foot, is soft white, velvet-like synthetic fabric.

These are a modern shape of geta shoe with a base made out of one piece of wood with rubber underneath. The straps are tied underneath in the traditional way. 

The older type of geta  had two pieces of wood underneath and the wearer would rock them back and forth when walking making a click-clack noise which is where the word 'geta' comes from as it imitates the sound. Geta are the traditional shoe to be worn with summer wear yukata and casual kimono. 

SIZE:  These are a fairly average size. Japanese shoes are usually quite small/narrow by European and US standards. If you want to wear them check the sizing before buying. PLEASE NOTE - I will not take a return because they don't fit.

The length of the show 24cm/9.45inches in length from front to back and 8.5cm/3.35inches in width. The height at the heel is 4cm/1.5".

Various conversion charts give slightly different UK sizes but the most common suggestion for 24cm is UK size 5.5. The label suggests the shoes will fit a range from 23-24.5cm. which is about UK4.5-6 (although I think maximum UK 5.5 is probably safer).   Please remember the shoes are fairly narrow.

In Japan, the same size shoe is supposed to be worn by many sizes and if the foot is too long, it hangs off the back. Some people argue that the balance in geta is better if the heel hangs off the end but it doesn't sound very comfortable to me.This pair are recently made. They are new with tags   I think these shoes are perfect for wearing as sandals or with a kimono.

Altogether the shoes weigh about 255g

On post to overseas.- I am now using the eBay Global Shipping Programme, so the shipping rates are not set buy me. Once the item has left my hands, the control of the shipping is with eBay.

Postage costs and Combined postage for UK buyers, Ebay's new "simple delivery" seems to  provide two options for Royal Mail postage, starndard is 48 hour tracked and the 'express' is 24 hour tracked. If you need a faster shipping like special delivery you need to contact me before buying as the postage cannot now be changed after it has been bought.  I believe that the ebay postage system will combine postage.

Large and heavy items are not included in the ebay simple delivery and will be charged as shown on the listing.

RETURNS POLICY – I do not take returns except in the exceptional circumstance of an item being wrongly described. Please understand that selling items on ebay and posting them out incurs costs to me, so please don't buy unless you have read the description carefully and are sure that you want the item. Except in the situation where an item has been wrongly described, the buyer is always responsible for return postage.
