Here's a rare vintage vinyl copy of the LP record titled "Tender Mercies - Music From The Motion Picture" featuring Robert Duvall and various artists, released in 1983 under the Liberty Records label with catalog number LO-51147. The record includes music from the film "Tender Mercies" for which Robert Duvall won an Academy Award for Best Actor.

The vinyl disc is graded Excellent (EX) and comes in a cardboard LP Jacket sleeve also graded Excellent (EX) as it's still wrapped in the factory shrink along with a Hype Sticker.  The original inner liner is absent so I have substituted a new high quality inner to protect the vinyl.  Please see the detailed photos included in this listing.

This rare LP is a nice find for fans of Robert Duvall and is perfect for fans of film scores and soundtracks from the 1980s era.

From Wikipedia... Tender Mercies is a 1983 American drama film directed by Bruce Beresford and written by Horton Foote. It stars Robert Duvall as singer-songwriter Mac Sledge, a former country music star whose career and relationship with his ex-wife and daughter were wrecked by alcoholism. Recovering from his affliction, Sledge seeks to turn his life around through his relationship with a young widow and her son in rural Texas. The supporting cast includes Tess Harper, Betty Buckley, Wilford Brimley, Ellen Barkin, and Allan Hubbard.

Tender Mercies includes no original film score, and the musical soundtrack is limited to the performances of country songs and the acoustic guitar playing that occur as part of the story. A score was composed for the movie, but Beresford had it removed because he felt it was "too sweet" and sounded phony in the context of the film, although he acknowledged it as "very skillful". Duvall sang his own songs, a right he insisted be part of his contract. He commented, "What's the point if you're not going to do your own [singing]? They're just going to dub somebody else? I mean, there's no point to that." The film's financial backers were initially concerned about whether he could sing well enough for the role. Those concerns were allayed after Duvall produced a tape of himself singing a cappella "On the Wings of a Dove", a Bob Ferguson country song featured in the film.

I listened to both sides of this LP completely through on my audio-technica AT-LP60XBT turntable with no issues.  It plays extremely well and sounds great!  This is enjoyable traditional country style music.
