This is a beautiful pair of antique embroidery or needlework scissors featuring a classic forged steel design with decorative turned shanks. The blades are stamped "made in germany" on one side and feature what appears to be the importer mark NT FRSEY (which we believe points to New Jersey Cutlery) on the shank near the pivot. The wording "Made in Germany" is on the other side. These are approx 6" long. Based on the construction style and the high quality of the solingen style forged steel these likely date from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. They have a dark aged patina and represent the fine craftsmanship of German cutlery made for the American market.
These scissors are in good antique condition showing a natural aged patina and minor surface oxidation consistent with age. The blades are functional and meet precisely at the tips. the hinge remains tight and the decorative shanks are fully intact with no cracks or repairs. please see all photos for a close up view of the made in germany and ny jersey markings along with the metal finish.
