HAND MADE & HAND PAINTED ORIGINAL MAGIC LANTERN SLIDES

A group of ten Victorian Magic Lantern Slides which I believe depict scenes from The British Arctic Expedition of 1875–76 H.M.S Alert & HMS Discovery led by Sir George Strong Nares which sailed from Portsmouth in May 1875 to the North Pole via Smith Sound. They failed to reach the pole, but a sledging party led by Commander Albert Hastings reached the then farthest north point in May 1876

Seven of the Magic Lantern Slides appear to be original hand made and Hand Painted scenes which are quite crudely done but do have a charm about them

The other three appear to be from mass produced sets

The glass lantern slides are in generally good general condition,
