Mission: Impossible (1996)
The first film, released on May 22, 1996, was directed by Brian De Palma. It serves as a reboot of the 1960s television series and follows Ethan Hunt as he tries to uncover who framed him for the murder of his entire IMF team during a botched mission in Prague.

Mission: Impossible 2 (2000)
The second film, released on May 24, 2000, was directed by action legend John Woo. In this standalone sequel, Hunt teams up with professional thief Nyah Nordoff-Hall to stop a rogue IMF agent from releasing a genetically modified disease called "Chimera".
