Oris is a brand founded in 1904 in Hölstein, Switzerland. The company name, Oris, was derived from a nearby stream. In 1938, they produced a pilot's watch featuring a large crown that allowed pilots to adjust the time even while wearing gloves, and a "pointer date" display with a dedicated hand.
This large crown ("Big Crown") and "pointer date" feature are still carried over to current models.
This model, the Artelier Date Diamond, is very simple yet luxurious, featuring diamonds on the bezel and 11 points of diamond detailing on the dial. Despite its elegant appearance, it's a very versatile three-hand model.
It's an excellent value, making it a great entry-level mechanical watch.
