Given to our consigner
from the personal collection of Richard P. Kughn, former owner and President of
Lionel Trains. These postcards were used from 1963 (First year Zip Codes came
into use) to 1968. Suitable for framing. Madison
Hardware was a legendary, world-renowned Lionel train dealer and service
station located at 105 E. 23rd St in Manhattan, NYC, known as "Lionel
Central". Run by brothers Lou Shur and Carl Shaw, the iconic shop operated
until 1989, stocking massive amounts of new and vintage trains. It was
considered the "mecca" of train stores, often frequented for parts
and service. Its stock was bought by former Lionel owner Richard
Kughn who packed up the entire store and moved the inventory to Michigan in
semi-trailers.
