Japanese Lacquered Wooden Haribako Sewing Chest This is a Japanese small storage chest, also called a tansu. Coated with a striking deep reddish-brown lacquer in kamakurabori style, it is decorated with bold hand-carved stalks of bamboo with leaves. It has four similar-sized drawers with simple metal hardware.
