■ About the Piece & Artist Attribution
This is a powerful and majestic Karajishi (Guardian Lion Dog) statue made of Bizen ware, one of Japan's six ancient kilns.

The Signature: The piece features a hand-engraved signature "Kazan (香山)" on the base.

Attribution: Based on the style of the signature and the masterful craftsmanship, this work is attributed to the renowned Shibaoka Tosen-do kiln, specifically the lineage of Shibaoka Kazan. The second-generation Kazan was famously the first Bizen artist to be recognized as a "Traditional Craftsman" by the Japanese government.

Artistry: The statue displays a beautiful "Goma" (natural ash glaze) finish and captures a fierce yet dignified expression, typical of high-quality Bizen-yaki sculptures.

Please note: As there is no original box (Tomobako) or certificate of authenticity included, please judge the attribution and era based on the detailed photos provided.
