An antique French Napoleon III fringed floral cotton pelmet or cantonnière circa 1870.
The pelmet is made out of 4 pieces of the same fabric sewn together ( the pattern doesn’t align ) .
The colours are still very vibrant and the fringe is in good condition. There might be a couple of pom-poms missing…
Reddish brown hues with beige floral and leaf designs , with a beige coloured pom-pom fringe that matches beautifully with the fabric and beige florals.
The cantonnière is clean but I haven’t laundered it. There are a couple of small holes as seen in the photos. I have not repaired them but they really are hardly noticeable.
Also a couple of stitches have come undone where the fabric was sewn onto the back tape.
Measurements are 226 cm wide ( 88.9 inches) x 40 cm ( 15.75 inches) and add another 10 cm for the fringe ( 3,95 inches)
France circa 1870
