Up for sale is an original mixed-media painting by the celebrated Canadian artist Don Li-Leger (1948–2019). Known for his evolution from realism into profound, "Zen-influenced" abstraction, Li-Leger became a master of capturing atmosphere through geometric forms.
This specific piece is a dimensional construction, featuring physically raised blocks (assemblage) mounted to a backing panel. This creates a sculptural, three-dimensional effect that changes based on the lighting in the room. The work showcases Li-Leger’s signature mature style: rich, earthy color fields—ranging from deep plums to warm sunset oranges—layered with heavy impasto texture and meditative, calligraphic markings.
The artwork is in excellent condition. The paint surface is vibrant and intact, with the heavy impasto texture showing no signs of cracking or loss. The frame is structurally sound and presents beautifully; however, please note there is a noticeable horizontal scratch/scuff along the top edge of the gold frame, as well as a minor chip on the upper left corner (visible in the photos). Aside from this, the frame shows only minor signs of standard display wear.
The brown dust cover (paper backing) on the reverse side of the frame has some tearing and punctures. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect the integrity or display of the artwork. Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description and show the exact condition of the piece you will receive.
