This is a Japanese antique saw.
It was used from the Edo period through the Taisho period to cut large trees vertically.
Because it is a large saw, it is called “Oga” (大鋸) in Japan.
It is in very good condition and well-balanced.
There is a crack in the handle.
The handle has a brass ring attached.
The saw blade is neatly trimmed.
Despite being an old vintage piece, it is surprisingly clean and is a highly collectible item.
It bears the maker's mark and is a rare, hard-to-find piece.
While showing signs of use, the overall condition is extremely good.
If intended for use, regrinding and tooth adjustment would be necessary,
but it is fully functional as is.
Highly recommended for collectors.
