Up for auction is a beautiful, naturally tumbled fossilized marine bone fragment found along the South Carolina coast. This specimen features a striking, dark-chocolate to jet-black phosphate patina, a signature of fossils found in the mineral-rich Lowcountry sediment.
Texture: Excellent visible "honeycomb" or cancellous bone structure in the cross-section.
Mineralization: Fully permineralized; it feels heavy and stone-like to the touch.
