The “Bubbleback” is positioned as a representative antique Rolex, equipped with one of the earliest completed automatic winding mechanisms. This example is a 1952 Semi Bubbleback, also known as an Oyster Perpetual semi-bubble. It features a large Oyster case with a rounded screwback. The dial is ivory with guilloche finishing, wedge-shaped applied indices, alpha hands, and a blue steel seconds hand. The movement is the early automatic Cal.645, part of the first generation Perpetual series. The crown is a non-screw “SUPER OYSTER ROLEX,” seen only during this era.
