Description
Ancient bronze coin attributed to Macedon and associated with the coinage of Alexander III (Alexander the Great), 4th century BC.
The obverse depicts a head of Heracles wearing a lion skin headdress.
The reverse type (not shown here) is typically associated with bow and quiver motifs common in Macedonian bronze issues of the period.
These small bronze denominations circulated widely throughout the Hellenistic world following Alexander’s conquests.
