Vintage Japanese Fabric Uchiwa Fan
This is a Japanese vintage fabric fan or Uchiwa. Uchiwa is a traditional fan tool typically made of wood or bamboo and paper in a flat paddle-like shape. This particular fan is an oblong shape that features a cutout image of a rooster on white paper. The frame is made of a thin piece of bamboo that was split at the end into tiny slices to make the skeleton of the fan. It is functional, but also excellent as a decorative piece.
