Tono cypress is known as a fine wood second only to Kiso cypress and ranked alongside Yoshino cypress. Once you start using it you'll find it's actually a very convenient round cutting board. The round shape allows for depth making it easy to catch even easily rolling cucumbers. For small portions of food the round shape also allows you to cut them in one go by simply rotating the cutting board. [About resin] Cypress wood produces resin which can be sticky. While this resin is harmless from a food hygiene perspective if it bothers you it can be wiped off with vinegar diluted with hot water.
