Horse & Trident Type · 210–30 BC
Obverse: Horse prancing left with ground line beneath.

Legend: Μ – Υ
Legend Translation: Abbreviation for ΜΥΛΑΣΑ (Mylasa).
This civic bronze issue is well-documented but scarce in well-preserved condition with complete devices. The trident-and-horse combination is a classic Mylasan type that appeals strongly to collectors of Carian and Greek civic coinage.
Numista Rarity Index: 91/100
Attractive dark green patina with lighter highlights. Devices are clearly defined on both sides, with the horse’s form and the trident’s spiral details visible. Minor surface roughness consistent with ancient bronze coinage. No modern tooling or smoothing observed.
Grade Recommendation: VF (Very Fine) by NGC Ancients standards.
Authenticity: 100% authentic ancient coin – lifetime authenticity guarantee.

Mylasa was one of the most important cities of Caria, serving as a major religious and political center. The horse symbolizes strength and civic pride, while the trident reflects maritime influence and regional identity. These small bronzes circulated locally, offering a tangible connection to everyday economic life in Hellenistic Asia Minor.
