Wonderful blacksmith-made Spanish Colonial espada ancha. Features a horn grip, decorative knuckle bow, down turned quillion, and quill back point on the blade.
The quillion, with an extreme downward position, appears to be intentional. Perhaps it originally jutted out straight and the owner tired of it catching on everything or maybe it was simply made this way. The knuckle bow has some primitive incised decorative lines. The blade has "DT" cut into it just below the guard.
Horn grip has a crack at one of the rivets and there is craqueleur on the surface throughout. Still, remains solid and there is no play at all between the hilt and blade. There is a slight waviness toward the tip of the blade as shown in the pics. Also, there are numerous nicks along the edge. Extreme tip of blade is slightly blunted.
Overall, a very displayable early sword. Sword is 26 1/4 inches in total length with a 21 3/4 inch blade.
Absolutely no international shipping.
