Description - Georgian early 19th century Scottish solid silver mounted rams horn Snuff Mull with a hinged lid with silver-gilt interior
the lid is chased with embossed flower heads with a large inset tiger eye stone.
there is a solid silver shield cartouche which has an engraved inscription (rubbed unidentifiable)
unmarked, tested to at least 925/ 1000 solid silver fineness, very common for these small snuff mulls not to be hallmarked
Condition - In fair condition, there are chips to the Tiger's Eye stone edges
hinge strong and secure and the decoration is clear for the age, there are no dents, dings splits or holes to the silver, some of the mount decoration has deteriorated around the bottom edge,
there is an old fracture beneath the silver mount, no movement and quite possible its been this way since it was made and slightly cracked when mounts were applied
