The metal-body Republic resonator mandolin has no serial number, so we’re not sure what year it was made.  It’s so close to the Recording King brand resonator mandolins that began showing up in the early 2000s that we’re assuming this Republic version was made in the same factory (probably in Asia).  It has a straight neck, very low string action, and an adjustable truss rod (string action is barely over 2/32” at the 12th fret, it's currently strung with GHS A240 Ultra Light strings because of the long scale). The body is made of a just-slightly-magnetic metal alloy, neck is mahogany of some kind, fingerboard looks like Indian Rosewood.  The tuners all work fine, and it has a Schatten NR-2 pickup mounted in the biscuit bridge.

String scale is 15 inches, 18-fret neck is 1 3/8” wide at the nut (12 frets clear of the body).  The body is 12 3/4” wide and 2 1/2" deep.  We're selling this on eBay because while the neck is straight and the string action nice and low, it's probably too low for heavy-handed players, especially as you go up the neck.   Because of the Schatten pickup, fastened to the biscuit right behind the maple saddle, raising the string action may be time consuming and the guys in Gryphon's Repair Dept. are already over-stressed so we're trying to cut them a little slack.   If you are at all mechanically inclined, and patient, raising the string action slightly won't be that difficult and depending on your playing style you may not need to do anything at all. Comes with the zippered case shown, which we assume is original.
