Description:
This antique religious statue dates to the late 1800's or early 1900's and was likely crafted in France or Belgium for church use. Made from hollow-cast plaster, it features Saint Joseph holding a staff and carpenter's square-traditional symbols of his role as protector and worker. The piece stands an impressive 40 inches tall and displays hand-painted detailing throughout.

The statue has a warm, devotional presence ideal for use in a prayer room, chapel, display niche, or as a decorative focal point in any home. Like all our ecclesiastical antiques, it was thoughtfully sourced in Europe, imported to our Oregon warehouse, and lightly cleaned while preserving the original painted surface.

Based on traditional iconography-including the staff and cross held by the figure-this statue is most likely intended to represent Saint Joseph.

Condition:
Wear on paint consistent with its age. Small mounting hole on the back side. Overall, this piece is in very good antique condition with expected wear from age. The polychrome paint shows bright, original colors with minor areas of rubbing, losses, and craquelure consistent with 100 years of handling and devotional use.
