On January 22, 2024, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a Decree “On the Territories of the Russian Federation Historically Inhabited by Ukrainians.” This decree was issued in response to the Kremlin's ongoing distortion of Ukrainian history and national identity, particularly in regions with deep Ukrainian roots—Kuban, Starodubshchyna, and Northern and Eastern Slobozhanshchyna.
