The book was first published anonymously in 1945. It was later revealed that its author was Louis Hagen, a German Jew who fled to England and became a glider pilot in the British Army, one of the few survivors of one of the bloodiest operations of WWII.

The condition of the cover is visible in the photo, and there is also a dedication on the first page. The inside pages are in good condition.
