Letter Signed ‘H.Lowe, Lt.General’, as Governor of St.Helena, to Rear-Admiral Sir Pulteney Malcolm, discussing the case of the David Transport ship, the complaints of some of the officers against the Master of the vessel, and encouraging Malcolm to give the complaints his “early attention”.. 2 pp. 12 x 8 inches, with integral blank leaf, in fine condition. Lt.-General Sir Hudson Lowe (1769-1844), Governor of St. Helena (1815-1821). Admiral Sir Pulteney Malcolm (1768-1838) was Commander in Chief of the St.Helena station in 1816-17. Unlike Hudson Lowe, Malcolm remained on good terms with Napoleon, and made a valuable record of their conversations. Letters by Hudson Lowe as Governor of St.Helena are uncommon. “I was wholly uninformed officially or privately until I received Your Excellency’s letter either of the complaint made at the Cape to Capt.
