1949 Press Photo Scene of derailed "Abraham Lincoln" train in Springfield, IL

Springfield, Illinois - Seven persons were injured and about 800 more shaken up today when five cars of the streamliner "Abraham Lincoln" jumped the rails near here. Chicago bound, the Gulf, Mobile & Ohio train was believed derailed because of rails expanding under the summer heat. Aboard were several members of the adjourned Illinois legislature. Photo measures 8.75 x 6.5 inches. Photo Is dated 1949.
