The OLD RAT, considered the quintessential distortion pedal, offers good distortion but can also suffer from a thin tone, which can be a pain when creating your own sound. It also suffers from the muddy distortion common to many distortion pedals, and the squashy, highly distorted sound that doesn't cut through. Controls

VOL: Adjusts volume.

DIST: Adjusts distortion level.

TONE: Turning it further to the right emphasizes high frequencies. The 10:00-12:00 position is roughly the FLAT position.

Mini SW: Tone switch. Moving it to the right will slightly weaken the low frequencies and emphasize the high frequencies.
