James Sword & Son was a historical Glasgow-based whisky blending company that was acquired by Stanley P. Morrison in 1983. It is not an active, independent company today. Company History The company was a prominent whisky blender with offices and a blending and bottling plant in Glasgow. It was run by William Walker for a number of years, who was the father-in-law of Stanley P. Morrison, the founder of Morrison Bowmore Distillers. The firm, along with A. Dewar Rattray, was purchased by Stanley P. Morrison in a period of consolidation in the company's history in 1983.While the original company was absorbed, its name still exists as a listed bottler for various whiskies, such as the "Sword's Gauntlet Blended Scotch Whisky". The name "James Sword & Son Ltd." is now used by a subsidiary of The Vintage Malt Whisky Company for certain bottling's.
