Here is a scarce full ticket to the Jan. 11, 1980 women’s basketball game between Old Dominion and UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. The Lady Monarchs defeated UCLA, 73-48. The reigning national champion Lady Monarchs were led by HOFer Nancy Lieberman, who recorded a Triple-Double. She had 12 points, 12 assist and 11 rebounds. She also had 6 steals. Lieberman’s freshman teammate, Anne Donovan, another future HOFer, chipped in 8 points, 14 rebounds, and 8 blocks. This O.D. team went on to become a repeat champ later that season.
The newspapers said Lieberman revolutionized the women’s game and that she passed like Larry Bird. When Nancy was asked after the game how she felt when called as good as a male player, she said,“It’s the highest compliment I can receive. No one wants to be told they play like a girl.”, (LA Times, 1-12-80, Mike Littwin.)
This is a
clean and bright full ticket from a non-smoking home. When held under direct
light you can see wear. It won’t grade at a high level, IMHO. But it
presents very well and is a great ticket to have signed if possible.
