What is GUTS-MAN?

GUTS-MAN is a brand of sturdy, highly functional socks made in response to demand from members of the Japanese Self-Defense Force. GUTS-MAN socks are actually used in the rigorous training of the SDF, and are even now an important part of their gear.

The toe socks, a particular favorite of the SDF members, are a culmination of the skills and knowledge of the many Japanese craftsmen under our umbrella—a long-standing sock manufacturer with over 97 years of history.

 Socks made in Nara Prefecture are evolving every day, produced by artisans who have dedicated themselves to manufacturing with honesty and have continued to pursue the highest quality for decades.

Five toe socks are developed for the first time in Nara Prefecture, and take on their current form.

Our second president undertakes production of a new type of five toe socks. While the prototype in circulation at the time is a straight, heel-less type of sock, our company is the first in Nara Prefecture to successfully add a heel to the socks.
