Meticulously handmade Great Horned and Great Gray Nest Cone. Did you know these owls do not build their own nests? They nest in caves, on cliffs, take over squirrel, hawks and other nests but they ALSO readily use artificial nest cones like this one.
These nest cones are made of galvanized hardware cloth, 19ga wire, thick weed barrier, branches and vines. Each nest cone is unique.
These are quite large and measure at about 28”x23”x18”.
Great Horned Owls nest across America in every state. Great Gray Owls nest in the NW United States and Canada. If you have a live tree, or if you noticed in the photos a large cactus, you can more than likely attract Great Horned Owls.
Attracting these owls will help with natural rodent control!
These nest cones need to be mounted 15-45’ high in the crotch of a tree (or even a cactus!). Some of these owls will even nest lower.
The photos with Great Horned Owls are just some of my customers success photos. For optimal success, mount your nest cone in the Winter or late winter, well ahead of nesting season.
