As the issues are always focussed on local topics, it is easy to get an overall picture of this interesting speck in the Indian Ocean. The island was named on December 25th in 1643 by Captain W Mynors on board the "Royal Mary". Its remote nature has enabled a number of unique flora and fauna to evolve. The island is surrounded by a reef which is alive with sea life, and on land the Red Crab and Sea Turtle are often seen.
