REGARDING TICKETS TO GAME, HISTORICAL GAME FIRST GAME IN NEW BUTLER BOWL, ONLINE INFO /

Construction on the the Butler Bowl started in 1927 and was completed in time for the start of the 1928 football season. The new bowl opened with a seating capacity of nearly 36,000 seats, with expansion plans to double the number of seats to over 72,000 in the works. Those plans for the university would never be realized, as the bowl would be downsized at various points throughout its history (1955, 2006, 2010).
The team would host its first game on the new Fairview campus on October 13, 1928 vs. Franklin, defeating the Grizzles 55-0 in front of approximately 8,000 spectators. The Butler Bowl was officially dedicated on November 10, 1928, as the team took on the University of Illinois, but would fall by a score of 14-0. Approximately 20,000 spectators took in this game, as the university and Indianapolis celebrated the official opening of the bowl with a parade, banquets, both university's marching bands performing and more for the game.
The bowl is now known as the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl, with a seating capacity of just over 5,500 seats. Your Butler University Bulldogs (3-0) are scheduled to take on the Virginia University of Lynchburg (0-3) this Saturday, September 28 at 1 PM as a part of Family Weekend. ----
