Gorgeous piece by Mary Gates Dewey of a gray cat licking its’ paw. Cat sculpture includes an informational sheet by Mary as well:

“My work is made of clay and his bisque fired in a kiln. It is them buried in sawdust in a container. The sawdust is ignited and allowed to flame for about 20 minutes. It is imp, partially covered and slowly smolders until all the sawdust has burned down, which takes 5 to 12 hours. The color patterns obtained from this method are permanent.”

Both the sculpture and sheet are signed by Mary. Piece is signed 87 and has the #4 circled under her name.
