Introducing my French lace border. A vintage lace trim, made in the early to mid-part of the 20th century in the traditional bobbin lace-making region of Retournac, Haute-Loire, France, ensuring authenticity and quality. Crafted from cotton, this lace trim combines a soft feel with durability.

This lace features a straight upper edge and a decorative lower border with small rounded arches, forming a scalloped outline. The design consists of small circular floral motifs linked by fine hexagonal mesh, giving it a delicate and airy texture.
It measures 14 meters in total and remains on its original card. Perfect for period costume work, fine sewing, home linens, and restoration projects.

Please note that all our laces and linens are sold as found, unwashed and unused, they have been stored for many years so if any cleaning or ironing is needed, it will be left to the buyer. Before use, gently hand wash or soak in soft soap, rinsed and towel dried (no wringing!!) and let to air dry. The ancient folk wisdom says that it is better to spread the fabrics on a meadow and let the dew and the moon naturally whiten the fabric.

The color shades go from white to ecru and cream, and because the handmade lace was made by different women and threads, on some occasions the color of each roll from the same type differs slightly. They have been stored for many decades (almost a century), so it is possible that some of them may show dust or a light patina; this is precisely what gives them their unique, endearing charm. I try my best to show and describe any exceptional wear or damage.

Thank you for your interest that has kept you reading up to this point. Feel free to let me know if you have any further requests or if you'd like additional adjustments!
