Grandfather Tiger, Grandfather Tiger Saen Heng, Luang Pu Saen, Wat Ban Nong Chik, Bronze, Filled with Buddha Powder

Father Kaew or Rishi is considered a great teacher of many branches of knowledge, such as performing arts, medicine, etc. He is considered a person with strong morality, practicing meditation, living in the forest, full of compassion, always helping people in distress, which not everyone who goes into the forest will have the opportunity to meet everyone. Only those who have enough merit will have the opportunity to meet. As we have read in the history that there are many famous monks who went on pilgrimage into the forest and had the opportunity to meet Father Kaew or Rishi. Sometimes they had the opportunity to try their knowledge or exchange knowledge. Sometimes they became disciples and learned various profound and strange knowledge from these Rishis who practiced meditation in the forest but had a lot of strong spiritual power. Therefore, it is believable that these hermits are real or have appeared in a vision to impart knowledge to the monks with high merit in creating amulets to help their disciples who are suffering. As can be seen, many monks will use the hermit's head in various ceremonies, including the worship ceremony, where the hermit's head is always invited. In addition, in the ceremony to bless amulets, the hermit's head must be invited as a way to inform and invite the teachers to join the ceremony.

The tiger-faced hermit and the deer-faced hermit, both of them have the same origin. In the past, when both of them were not yet hermits, they were sworn friends and lived in the same teacher's school, which was the hermitage of the hermit Visith. As time passed, both of them had more and more power, so they separated from their teacher's hermitage to seek a secluded place and practice meditation. Following the path of the sages

According to the legend, the Tiger-faced sage and the Deer-faced sage tested each other's magic.

Sage Kalasit lived in the south, while Sage Patapa, also known as Sage Pitan, lived in the south. They practiced separately and occasionally visited each other, but not very often. After practicing with full diligence, the two sages gained more power, had strong supernatural powers and magic, and could transform into anything.

One day, Sage Kalasit remembered his best friend, Sage Patapa, so he traveled to the hermitage. However, he also intended to test the magic he had practiced so skillfully. When the two sages met, they sat and talked about various things, and of course, they did not forget to talk about their own magic. They both boasted that their own magic was better and more outstanding. When it was like this, both of them agreed to test their magic.

Phra Rishi Patapa scooped a bowl of water and chanted a spell to make it holy water to reverse the spell and return it to its original state after testing it. Then he took the bowl of holy water to leave with Phra Rishi Kalasit, who did the same. Both sides trusted each other. Then Phra Rishi Kalasit used a spell to transform his head into a beautiful, bright yellow tiger face. Phra Rishi Patapa was not inferior, showing his supernatural power to transform his head into a beautiful deer face as well. Then both sides were satisfied that they had equal magic.

Then an unexpected event happened when another Rishi named Phra Rishi Utri was hiding nearby watching everything. Then he walked in and praised both Rishis for their great knowledge of charisma. Then they sat down and talked like friends. While they were talking, Phra Rishi Utri thought that Phra Rishi Kalasit had a tiger face. It was beautiful and strange, so I wanted it to be like this forever. As for Rishi Patapa, he had a deer’s face, looking graceful. I had never seen him before. If he could stay like this, it would be good. Rishi Utri tricked the two Rishis until they were so engrossed that they forgot that they had to return to their original forms. When the two Rishis were not paying attention, Rishi Utri snuck in to snatch the two bowls of holy water and splashed all the holy water out. When Rishi Patapa and Rishi Kalasit saw this, it was too late. That meant that the two Rishis would never be able to return to their original forms again. In their utmost anger, the two Rishis showed their power and used their magic to curse Rishi Utri to become a monkey-faced Rishi at that moment. Since then, there have been three more strange faces of Rishis: the tiger-faced Rishi, the deer-faced Rishi, and the monkey-faced Rishi. Later, the three Rishis forgave each other. Each side focused on cultivating themselves in their own hermitages in the same forest.

Wearers carry them about their neck, often in small silver or gold boxes.
