La Lira e la sua storia is a richly illustrated numismatic supplement issued in 2003, conceived to celebrate and preserve the memory of Italy’s national currency after the transition to the euro. The volume presents a complete visual and descriptive history of the lira, from its 19th-century origins to its final issues in the 20th century. It combines facsimile reproductions of 71 banknotes and a set of 30 coins, offering readers both documentary precision and a collectible dimension. With concise historical notes and detailed imagery, the work situates the lira within the broader context of Italian economic, cultural, and political history, serving as both an educational reference and a commemorative object.
