These are 1 inch round inctricately carved pieces that dangle from a pair of silver earscrews.  The symbol on the front is the Chinese symbol Fu, which means Good Fortune, Blessings or Happiness.  It is often worn around the Lunar New Year for good luck.  I do not see any marks, so I do not know if they are sterling.
